Weekend Round-Ups

NEPA Weekend Round-Up 04.15.22

Celebrate Easter with Egg Hunts, Springtime Hikes and RailRiders Baseball

Before the Easter Bunny delivers your basket and you fall into a chocolate-induced stupor, start celebrating the holiday early with a bit of fresh air. Join DCNR for their Hiking Series when they hit the trails at Seven Tubs Recreation Area. Or discover a secret spot with the help of the Pocono Heritage Land Trust as they lead a Hike at the Twin Brooks Conservation Easement.

Cheer on NEPA’s minor league sports teams as they take on some challenging rivals. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins prepare to close out the season with some of their final matches against the Hershey Bears and Bridgeport Islanders. Meanwhile, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders are just getting started. Head to PNC Field for a series of games against the Norfolk Tides.

Travel back in time with the help of some classic rock icons. Little Feat returns to the F.M. Kirby Center with special guest Hot Tuna. And Three Dog Night will perform their hits on the Sherman Theater stage. If that’s not enough, the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble’s production of Witch goes even further back, reviving a centuries-old story for a modern audience.

Of course, there are plenty of ways to get in the Easter spirit this weekend. Grab a basket and head to Stone Hedge Golf Course to hunt for eggs and snap a photo with the Easter Bunny himself. For a more leisurely pace, hop on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway’s Easter Bunny Train for a ride through scenic springtime Jim Thorpe. And if you need to grab a few last-minute treats, the Viewmont Mall transforms into an Easter Pop-Up Market featuring local businesses and vendors.
