Spring into April with Races, First Fridays and a Local Film Festival
A new month means new fun in NEPA. Friday nights are for local artists. First Friday Scranton brings the Electric City together for art displays and live entertainment. Keep the cultural appreciation going all weekend long at the 5th Annual Northeast Pennsylvania Film Festival. Catch screenings of more than 20 locally made films at the Waverly Community House and The Ritz Theater. And don’t forget to plan a little fun for the kiddos. Stop by Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston for their exciting glow-in-the-dark Cosmic Skate.
Lace up your running shoes, this weekend has races all around. The Scranton Half Marathon takes runners on a tour of the iconic NEPA city. The Shawnee Inn and Resort hosts races for all skill levels and abilities. The Bearly Spring 5K and Cub 1 Mile Fun Run are ideal for beginners, and the Hair of the Bear 15K is perfect for advanced runners.
The Shawnee Playhouse presents the iconic Broadway musical Gypsy, a Stephen Sondheim classic. And a tribute to ABBA turns the F.M. Kirby Center into a disco with performances of the supergroup’s biggest hits.
Celebrate Easter early at Three Dog Bakery, where they’re having a pet photo session with the Easter Bunny. And if you can’t let go of winter sports just yet, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins play against the Bridgeport Islanders at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
