We finally made it! It’s the first official weekend of spring!
Celebrate the warmer days with your favorite sports, whether you enjoy embarking on an outdoor adventure or cheering from stands. Take on your friends at Stalingrad XIV at Skirmish Paintball on Saturday. This epic paintball war will put you right in the middle of the historic battle. On Saturday, learn to sweep the stones at Anthracite Curling Club’s Learn to Curl event. If spectator sports are more your speed, check out the Penguins playing on home ice this Sunday. It’s Tux’s birthday celebration, so all kids ages 14 and under get in for free.
Don’t waste the weekend binge watching TV at home. Join your fellow movie buffs at the NEPA Film Festival, which begins on Friday. They’ll show over 50 films, including works from our local filmmakers. On Saturday, Stage West brings Scranton’s favorite sitcom to life at their Office Pop Up Party.
The St. Patty’s shenanigans aren’t over yet. The luck of the Irish is still going strong at the Stroudsburg St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday.
Mark your calendars for:
Learn to Curl with Anthracite Curling Club
We fell in love with curling during last year’s Winter Olympics. Now it’s your turn to sweep the stones. Anthracite Curling Club is holding a Learn to Curl event at Toyota SportsPlex on Saturday. They’ll teach you the basics and show you how to play a game. The event starts at 4 p.m. Spaces are limited, so call ahead to register.
Penguins Home Game and Tux’s Birthday Celebration
It’s Tux’s birthday! To celebrate, all kids ages 14 and under receive free admission to Sunday’s home game. Bring the family to see the Pens go head-to-head against the Springfield Thunderbirds. The puck drops at 3 p.m.
NEPA Film Festival Opening Night Gala at Waverly Comm
The NEPA Film Festival will show over 50 films this weekend, including works by NEPA’s own filmmakers. The festival kicks off with an Opening Night Gala at the Waverly Community House on Friday at 7 p.m. The festival continues at the Ritz Theater on Saturday and University of Scranton on Sunday.
Office Pop Up Party at Stage West
In the words of Michael Scott, ain’t no party like a Scranton party. Join Stage West for their Office Pop Up Party on Saturday. They’ll offer themed food and drink specials, music, and dancing. Show off your knowledge of all things Dunder Mifflin during the trivia contests and come dressed as your favorite character. Doors open at 8 p.m.
Stroudsburg St. Patrick's Day Parade
St. Patrick’s Day is a month-long celebration here in NEPA. The fun continues at the Stroudsburg St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday. Marching bands, bagpipers, and floats will take over the streets. The parade steps off from Stroudsburg High School at 1:30 p.m. and ends at Crystal Street in East Stroudsburg
Circle Drive-In Flea Fair Season Opening
The Circle Drive-In’s Flea Fair opens for the season on Sunday. Explore this huge flea market and find collectibles, antiques, and other vintage treasures. The drive-in has held the Flea Fair every year since 1975, so it’s a tradition to wake up early and hunt for the best bargain. The Flea Fair opens at 7 a.m. It will be held every Sunday through November.
