Think spring! Warmer weather and longer days are on their way!

St. Patrick’s Day is finally here! Put on your green and celebrate the luck of the Irish. The Jim Thorpe Irish Fest is an entire weekend of bagpipers, drum bands, and St. Patty’s parties. On Friday, check out the Celtic rock band Kilmaine Saints at the Mauch Chunk Opera House.

Shake off the winter blues with a live show. The Scranton Cultural Center hosts the 2nd Annual Steamtown String Fling on Friday. Jam out with bluegrass and folk artists at this acoustic music festival. On Saturday, John Mulaney and Pete Davidson from Saturday Night Live bring a night of laughs to the F.M. Kirby Center.

Come out of hibernation and get active this weekend. Forget basketball—the real competition is ramping up at the March Bagness Cornhole Tournament at Mohegan Sun Pocono on Saturday. Cure your cabin fever with a brisk jog at the 39th Annual Winter’s End 4.5 Mile Run on Sunday. Just keep moving, and you’ll stay warm.

Maple season means that spring is right around the corner. Visit our local maple farms during the NEPA Maple Tour on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Jim Thorpe Irish Fest

    Say cheers to St. Patrick’s Day at the Jim Thorpe Irish Fest on Saturday and Sunday. The entire town will offer festive fun, including bagpipers, Celtic concerts, and even kilt party at Stone Row Pub. Pick up a Pot-of-Gold Passport to score special discounts at local shops and restaurants. The festival begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday.

    Rock out Irish-style with the Kilmaine Saints. This Celtic rock band will perform at the Mauch Chunk Opera House on Friday night. The concert starts at 8 p.m.

  • 2nd Annual Steamtown String Fling

    You’re in for a boot-stomping good time at the 2nd Annual Steamtown String Fling. The Scranton Cultural Center is hosting bluegrass, folk, and Americana artists from around the nation. The music starts on Friday at 7 p.m.

  • John Mulaney & Pete Davidson at the Kirby

    Live from Wilkes-Barre, it’s John Mulaney and Pete Davidson. These Saturday Night Live comedians will perform two back-to-back shows on Saturday at the F.M. Kirby Center. Shows start at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

  • March Bagness Cornhole Tournament

    Test your beanbag skills at the March Bagness Cornhole Tournament at Mohegan Sun Pocono on Saturday. This is one of NEPA’s largest cornhole tournaments with a huge payout. It doesn’t matter if you’re cornhole experience is limited to family picnics. They have three divisions for all skill levels. Registration starts at 11 a.m. and the tournament starts at 1 p.m.

  • 39th Annual Winter's End 4.5 Mile Run

    Dust off your sneakers for the 39th Annual Winter’s End 4.5 Mile Run on Sunday. This race starts at the Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus and leads through the scenic Lehman countryside. It’s also the first leg of the Vince Wojnar Triple Crown. The race kicks off at 11 a.m.

  • NEPA Maple Tour

    Maple season is one of the sweetest times of year in NEPA. Take the NEPA Maple Tour on Saturday and Sunday to visit nine local maple farms. Learn about the syrup-making process, explore the farms, and pick up a sweet treat for later. You can take a self-guided tour or hop on the bus tour that leaves from Honesdale. The maple farms open at 10 a.m.

  • Dr. Seuss's Birthday Bash

    Join the Lackawanna County Children’s Library on Saturday for the Dr. Seuss Birthday Bash. They’ll celebrate with story time, crafts, and music. The event is free, but advance registration is required. The party starts at 2 p.m.

  • Flame Painted Earring Workshop

    Make your own masterpiece at the Flame Painted Earring Workshop at ärt ə’ fekts Gallery on Saturday. You’ll use fire to transform a pair of plain copper earrings into a colorful piece of art. Participants must be ages 15 or older. The workshop begins at 2 p.m.
