Park Multimedia – Wilkes-Barre, PA

Telling stories that matter.

Park Multimedia was started in 2007 by owner Dan Kimbrough after he spent time traveling and working for many companies and other people. Teaching originally brought Dan to NEPA. After 10 years in the classroom teaching a wide array of subjects ranging from introduction production courses to media criticism and theory, he decided to take Park from a side business to making it his full-time job. Dan had worked in media in some way or another for the past 20 years. He studied communication and electronic broadcast management (back before we started using digital) in school and has worked all over the country doing sports, documentaries, news, and more, and he was able to funnel all of that experience and passion into Park Multimedia.

“I decided I wanted to be able to shape the focus and impact of a company and decided to start Park. Through the years, we’ve always focused on different types of media and telling stories wherever the audience is. This has allowed us to be fluid enough to change and adapt as the industry evolves. Recently, thanks to my background in audio and broadcast production, we began doing more work with podcasting and live streaming, continuing to evolve as the industry does,” says Dan.

Community Storytelling.

Park Multimedia provides audio, video, and photographic services. Whether traditional media – commercials, corporate videos, documentaries, training, videos, headshots, etc. or new media – podcasts, social media content, livestreams, webinars, etc. Park can provide support. The company’s current main focus is podcast production and content creation for social media. They like to partner with companies’ current marketing professionals and supplement custom content to help companies move away from stock images and better tell their story through content.

“One of the things that makes us truly unique is our understanding of how media works. We can create media and content, but we also understand the how and why of media. We’ve studied the industry and bring a long-term view of changes and trends to how we create and work with clients, says Dan. “Another thing that sets us apart with our content creation and social media services is we always look to graduate our clients. Rather than you rely on our services forever (unless you want to!) we want to educate and guide our content creation clients to understand and be able to create on their own and serve as a resource as the industry changes.”

An eye on the future of media.

The company’s biggest pivot over the past few years was gaining a better understanding of delivering content in the virtual world. Owner Dan Kimbrough had worked with livestreaming broadcasts and podcasting while teaching at Misericordia and doubled down when the pandemic hit. “Being able to help clients continue to tell their stories and connect with their audience was the goal and how we made it through the lockdown,” says Dan. “Since things have eased up, we’ve continued growing in these areas and with our new office space, have a podcast and livestreaming studio to allow us to continue to offer these services, whether in person or remote.”

You can often find Dan and Park at rallies, community events, and celebrations, documenting and capturing content. They work often with the Scranton Fringe Festival, Black Scranton Project, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and others to help capture events in the community.

“NEPA offers a wide range of opportunities to get involved and help different communities grow. Another great thing about the industry in this area is there is a true community over competition mentality and it’s great to be able to partner with other media companies to support clients and community.”
