Local Wine from Locally Grown, Pennsylvania Grapes
Hidden Creek Vineyard and Winery Inc. opened their doors fifteen years ago in November of 2006 alongside State Representative Tina Pickett, who welcomed them to the Endless Mountain Region of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Currently, the Laceyville winery produces over 20 different handcrafted wines. And every bottle is produced from Pennsylvania grapes and local orchards. Hidden Creek’s signature wines range range from dry to dessert, including a variety of Native American Grape and Vinifera wines.
“As our business grew, so did our tasting room, seating capacity, and our beautiful fireplace,” says Ruth Leichliter, owner and manager at Hidden Creek. She also manages the winery’s sales and marketing duties. Ruth claims a lifelong passion for wine. She started out making wine as a hobby with her husband who learned the craft from his grandfather. She credits her role at Hidden Creek for allowing her to bring that passion to the work she does every day.
For the dedicated team at Hidden Creek Vineyard and Winery Inc., their love for producing quality wines has remained the same for four generations of family ownership. Their unique location in Susquehanna County is off the beaten path and surrounded by beautiful scenery. What truly sets Hidden Creek apart, according to Ruth, are their wine blends and awesome friendly staff.

Excellence in a glass.
When you sit down for a tasting or pick up a bottle of wine from Hidden Creek Vineyard and Winery Inc., their flavors will make you understand why their wines have earned so many international and statewide awards. Most notably, they received the Governor’s Cup at the 100th PA Farm Show in Harrisburg. And their Tuscarora Dry Catawba wine was chosen to be served at the Inauguration of Senator Gene Yaw.
If you are a fan of dry wines, their Chardonnay and their Daniel Hunter, which is a smooth Cabernet Sauvignon aged in oak, are stellar options. They also offer a selection of semi-sweet wines like their famous Bluestone, a Catawba with citrus notes. And, for those with a bit of a sweet tooth, they have their famous Bullfrog’s Keg Sangria, a white wine with notes of guava and passion fruit.

Rooted in the community.
The local community has always been a major focus for Hidden Creek Vineyard and Winery. Prior to COVID-19, they regularly hosted community celebrations at their location with live music from local artists. They also connect with the community by frequenting local wine festivals and other events and markets.
The Hidden Creek team regularly participates in local fundraisers for community members. And, throughout the past 15 years, they’ve raised $20,000 in support of St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
To stay connected to their customers during COVID-19, they were able to provide delivery with flat rate shipping. And, when permitted, they converted their window to portray a festival booth to offer takeout at festival special pricing. When they were able to have customers back into the tasting room, they offered DIY cheese and meat boards to pair with their wine options. Now that wine festivals back for the 2021 season, you can keep track of Hidden Creek Vineyard and Winery, Inc. on their events page.
