Let’s Do Lunch: Wallenpaupack Brewing Co.

Goin’ “Up the Lake” for Comfort Food, Brewery-Fresh Beers and Family-Friendly Vibes

Since 2017, Wallenpaupack Brewing Co.  has been a place for family and friends to make memories over iconic brews and mouth-watering food. We stopped by to check out this fun for ourselves, and to sample their notoriously-delicious grub.

First, we chatted with Wallenpaupack Brewing Company CEO, Rebecca Ryman and Operations Manager, Sean O’Day. Both credited the brewpub’s success to it’s welcoming, family-oriented vibe. From the communal, beer hall design to the spacious, outdoor beer garden to the fun, laid back staff, we quickly discovered why this place is a true NEPA favorite.

Naturally, we started with some “Shareables.” Almost instinctively, we locked in on The WBC Chili Cheese Fries. Crispy, golden fries covered in homemade chili — that’s a no-brainer on a fall day. They arrived smothered in beer cheese with a drizzle of sour cream, tangy, pickled red onions and scallions. Next, we ordered the Honey Roasted Brussels Sprouts. And we found them roasted to absolute perfection. Each bite featured crispy pancetta, dried cranberries, feta cheese crumbles, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.

We then made our way over to the “Mains” side of the menu. We couldn’t go wrong with the Old-Fashioned burger and a generous helping of fries. This perfectly cooked 8oz. patty topped with lettuce, tomato, and cheese made for an ideal mid-day meal.

We then moved on to the Thank U Arby’s Sandwich — an homage to the Arby’s that long ago occupied this location. The simple, yet undeniably delicious combo arrived on a fresh roll with thinly sliced beef, gooey beer cheese and beer braised onions. This monster of a sandwich also comes with a side of the brewery’s famous and perfectly spicy Hop Barons Chips.

And, for our last round, we went with the Crispy Bacon Ranch Sandwich. We’re talkin’ about a heavenly combination of marinated buttermilk fried chicken and cider cured bacon. It comes on rosemary ciabatta bread, topped with lettuce, tomato, and a drizzle of creamy ranch. You might need a friend for this one. Believe us. When it comes to portions, Wallenpaupack Brewing leaves it all on the table (so to speak).

You’ll find Wallenpaupack Brewing Company just off the lake at 73 Welwood Ave in Hawley. Be sure to check out their Instagram and Facebook for events and upcoming specials.
