Let’s Do Lunch: Cucina Rinaldi

Old School Italian Food Meets Modern Convenience

We stopped into local favorite, Cucina Rinaldi this past week to get in on some of their delicious Italian food. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by one of the owners, Robin Rinaldi, who shared what makes Cucina Rinaldi such a special addition to NEPA.   

Authentic Italian food while also being convenient and fast is at the core of everything Cucina Rinaldi prepares. A pasta drive through seems like a dream, but Cucina Rinaldi makes this a reality. Rinaldi discussed this unique amenity, and how customers receive the best of both worlds: fresh, never frozen Italian food at a quick, on-the-go pace.   

First, we tried the Autumn Salad.  It came with a bed of fresh romaine, crisp apples, goat cheese, candied walnuts, dried cranberries and grilled chicken. And it was generously drizzled with their famous, homemade white balsamic dressing. Literally, customers stop in to get it by the tub. Between the candied walnuts and grilled chicken, each bite was the perfect mix of sweet and savory.  

Next, we opted for that NEPA staple — the Old Forge Pizza. We decided to go with the Tomato and Basil tray- a fresh twist on a classic Old Forge red tray. Thinly sliced tomato and basil under a spread of freshly baked melty-cheese was a combination made in pizza heaven.  

On to the sandwiches. First, we tried the Smashed Meatball Panini with melted mozzarella, and fresh marinara sauce. It’s got all you need in a sandwich: meatballs smothered in marinara sauce, melted cheese and fresh, soft bread.  

From there, we moved on to the Cheesesteak Hoagie. They delivered this beauty with sautéed onions and gooey cheese on a bakery-fresh roll. We also tried the Old-World Italian. You’ve got salami, capicola, sharp provolone, roasted peppers, and a vinaigrette drizzle. What else do you need? Finally, we made our way to the Roasted Turkey. Here, they combined fresh turkey, crispy bacon, smoked mozzarella, tomato and balsamic mayo on a hard roll. And it was perfection. 

You certainly can’t forget dessert at Cucina Rinaldi. Oh, don’t worry. We saved room. First, we went for the decadent and fluffy tiramisu. It was like a dreamy cloud of espresso and mascarpone. And finally, cheesecake — topped with sweet cherries of course. Don’t think we weren’t eyeing that one up since we walked in the door.
