Keystone State Games Return for Summer 2021

Luzerne County Set to Host Popular, Multi-Sport Competition as it Bounces Back for 39th Year

The Keystone State Games are back. Luzerne County will host the storied sporting event this summer. Following the cancellation of 2020’s games due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and a long winter of uncertainty, officials from both the Keystone State Games and Visit Luzerne County proudly announced the news at a joint press conference Monday.

The amateur competitions will take place throughout Luzerne County from July 29 through August 1. Details regarding registration, eligibility, competition rules and COVID-19 precautions can be found on the Keystone State Games website.

Since 1981, The Keystone State Games have highlighted the Commonwealth’s most gifted athletes. The Olympic-styled games feature rigorous competitions spanning all ages in a multitude of sports. From the baseball diamond to the ice hockey rink and just about everywhere in between, the honored summer tradition has modeled sportsmanship, good health and community pride.



Keystone State Games remain Pennsylvania’s largest, amateur multi-sport festival.

During the event, Luzerne County aims to welcome scores of athletes, families, coaches, volunteers and officials. The varied competitions, spread throughout the county, are expected to deliver much needed foot traffic to local businesses, hotels and restaurants.

In total, Luzerne County and the Games will host 22 sporting events including: archery, baseball, bocce, bowling, cornhole, darts, disc golf, field hockey, figure skating, 7v7 football passing, football skills combine, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, pickleball, powerlifting, powerwalking, table tennis, tennis, track & field, wiffleball, and the Keystone Classic Captain and Crew Golf Tournament.

Luzerne County officials and representatives from the Keystone State Games also detailed their partnership’s commitment to following recommended COVID-19 health and safety guidelines during the summer event. *The Keystone State Games PA Figure Skating Championship will take place on May 8-9, 2021 at the Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston.
