Hope Hill Lavender Farm, Pottsville, PA

Visit NEPA’s southernmost county and bring home a little rural authenticity.

Do yourself a favor and plan a visit to Schuylkill County to dress your holiday table with some of Pennsylvania’s finest offerings. We’re a rural county, where your woodland escape and historic town adventure can come together naturally. As a result, we’ve got some fabulous farms, vineyards, butchers, and bakers that will take your Thanksgiving to a new level!

Stone Mountain Wine Cellars in Pine Grove is one such example. This winery offers a selection of over 40 wines. And they even have a farm store. Stop in for holiday treats like pumpkins, squash, apples, local honey, jams, jellies, and the freshest cider you’ll ever taste.

Hope Hill Lavender Farm in Pottsville brings an elegant creative flair to your holiday table. Peruse their extensive selection of handmade olive oils, vinegars and chocolates. And don’t miss out on their herbs, teas, sugars, spreads, and honeys – all infused with the farm’s organic English and French lavenders.

Stoker’s Brewing Company, Tamaqua, PA

Schuylkill County is home to 8 wineries, 3 breweries and 3 distilleries.

Take your holiday cocktail game to the next level with a little old-fashioned moonshine. Bum’s Rush Restaurant & Pub, Orwigsburg, features Hillbilly Hooch in festive flavors like apple pie, cinnamon, candy cane, maple bacon and many more.

Stoker’s Brewing Company in Tamaqua offers an authentic German biergarten atmosphere. Take a load off, relax, sip, enjoy. And, don’t forget to fill a growler to go with one of their fine, hand-crafted beers. The Pumpkin Ale, brewed with fresh pumpkin and seasonal spices, makes a rich addition to any holiday celebration. The Cranberry Wit is a refreshingly tart “must-have” to pair with hearty Thanksgiving fare. Either is guaranteed to round out your holiday repast beautifully, so no worries.

And if you’re going to have beer, you definitely need one of NEPA’s most celebrated Eastern European holiday treats – Kielbasa. At Kowalonek’s Kielbasy Shop in Shenandoah you can purchase old-fashioned, handmade fresh and smoked kielbasa. They also carry specialties like Krackowska, Kielbasy loaf, potato Kishki, pierogies, and more. You can also stop by Hess Catering in Schuylkill Haven.  This is THE place to go for coal region favorites, like hand-rolled halupki and authentic city chicken.

Momma Millie’s Bakery, Pottsville, PA

It’s just not Thanksgiving without the sweets table.

No celebration is complete without dessert and we’ve got that covered too. To-die-for holiday pies, cakes, and cookies are the order of the day at Momma Millie’s Bakery in Pottsville.  Momma’s also carries éclair, cannoli, and whoopee pies. Everything is made fresh on premises daily.

C&C Candies and Country Store in Friedensburg features a full array of handmade candies. Load up on fresh butter creams, chewy caramels and decadent chocolates. Of course, you’ve got to go with the local favorite — peanut rolls.  C&C’s also has a bakery complete with fresh breads, rolls, and pies.

Nearby in Pine Grove, the Red Lion Café’s bakery case is loaded with homemade pumpkin pies. Their secret – real pumpkins from their very own farm. You can also pick up their popular, old-fashioned apple dumplings, but, in my humble opinion, the cream puffs steal the show. These traditional pate a’ choux are a full 4 inches across (and that many high as well) brimming with old-fashioned cooked pastry cream. It’s the stuff dreams are made of. Coincidentally, it’s also the stuff fabulous holidays are made of as well!

Plan your holiday table visit to beautiful, historic Schuylkill County today.
