NEPA’s Crawling With Ghosts and Ghouls
We’ve made it this far in this crazy year—what’s a few crazed clowns and bloodthirsty zombies, right? Test your fate at NEPA’s haunted houses, hayrides and tours. They’re opening for the season once again, and their creepy cast of characters is just dying to meet you.
We’ve got everything from the old-school haunted houses you remember from junior high to terrifying attractions with mind-blowing special effects and costumes. Track down the clues to a murder mystery or join a historic tour with a terrifying twist. Once the goosebumps fade away and your heart stops racing, you’ll look back at it all and have a good laugh.
Of course, this year’s going to look a little different. Local attractions are going the extra mile to keep guests and staff safe, so you might notice capacity limits to keep down the crowds and new layouts to allow for social distancing. Check their websites and social media for a full run-down of safety procedures.
NEPA Halloween Haunts:
Demon’s Gate Haunted Hayride
Only the bravest souls would climb aboard this hayride at Irem Country Club. If you think the wagon will keep you safe from the monsters, you’re in for a sinister surprise.
Ghost Tours at the Old Jail Museum
Jim Thorpe, PA
This historic jail is spooky on a normal day, let alone after dark. Hear the story of the famous bloody handprint and keep your eyes peeled for the elusive orbs. Ghost tours are every Saturday in October.
West Nanticoke, PA
This classic haunted walkthrough is one of the oldest in the area with decades of screams and scares under their belts. But just to keep you on your toes, they add new monsters and madmen every year. Join this NEPA Halloween tradition if you dare.
Hotel of Horror
Step inside a real-life haunted house— that’s right, Hotel of Horror has actually recorded paranormal activity onsite. Face your fears in their two walkthroughs, and just tell yourself it’s all part of the act… or is it?
Scott Township, PA
Located just outside of Scranton, Reaper’s Revenge has three attractions rolled into one terrifying experience. Take a ride deep into the woods on the Haunted Hayride, face the clowns and freaks of the Lost Carnival walkthrough and find your way through the 3D Delirium attraction.
Waldorf Estate of Fear
Waldorf Estate of Fear’s indoor walkthrough features an eerily familiar plague theme this year. If you make it out, test your fate at the City of Horrors, an outdoor walking trail. Zombie Escape Rooms will also be open.
