Explore Your Library’s Online Resources

Your Library Card Opens Up a World of Digital Resources

Local libraries have to shut their doors, but that won’t stop our love for learning and literature.

All of Pennsylvania’s libraries are currently closed, but the shutdown can’t stop us from enjoying the thrill of a good book and the satisfaction of learning something new. NEPA’s libraries offer a wealth of digital materials that you can access through your computer, tablet or phone.

Even though you can’t visit the library, you can still use your card to “check out” materials electronically. Most library systems have online collections of e-books, audiobooks and magazines that are free to download.

Your library card will also give you access to cool online classes and databases where you can learn everything from science to Spanish. Start building your family tree with genealogy websites or explore local history through digital archives.

And with classes cancelled, the kids need to keep their brains busy. Interactive learning sites will make screen time fun and educational, while some libraries like the Abington Community Library are holding storytime on Facebook Live.

Here’s a peek at some of the awesome digital resources available through NEPA’s libraries. Most sites will require a library card to sign in, but some are free to the public. Check your local library’s website for more details.
