A Village Frozen in Time
Take a journey back to the time when coal was king at Eckley Miners’ Village in Weatherly. This historic village was founded in 1854 and provides an example of a “patch town,” a community owned by a coal company. Today, you can explore the town that miners and other company employees called home.
Eckley Miners’ Village preserves the rich cultural, social, and economic history of NEPA’s coal mining communities. Their events and exhibits will give you a glimpse inside the everyday life of an immigrant coal miner.
This nonprofit museum is open year-round. They offer daily guided tours in the summer months and group tours by reservation. Check their calendar for living history events, where reenactors bring the past back to life.
