70,000 Acres of Scenic Beauty
Explore 70,000 acres at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, which spans Monroe, Pike, and Northampton Counties and parts of New Jersey. The park’s headquarters is located in Bushkill, and visitor centers are scattered throughout the grounds.
Maintained by the National Park Service, the area features more than 100 miles of trails, including parts of the Appalachian Trail, and more than 100 miles of scenic roadways. Popular trails include the McDade Recreational Trail, a biking and hiking route extending 30 miles; the Dingmans Creek Trail, boasting waterfalls; and the Conashaugh View Trail, suitable for horseback riding.
Swimming beaches are open in the summer, and the river is popular for fishing and boating. Private outfitters often bring kayak, canoe, and raft rentals. The park also features campgrounds, with tent and RV sites at Dingmans Campground near Dingmans Ferry and group sites at Valley View Group Campground in Bushkill. Other campsites are located in New Jersey.
Park Highlights
The Cliff Park Trail System features roughly 9 miles of hiking trails. Explore dense forests, open meadows, scenic overlooks and cool mountain streams. The system offers 8 connected trails that can be taken individually or combined for a more vigorous hike.
Raymondskill Falls stands over 150 feet tall. It has been recognized as Pennsylvania’s tallest waterfall. The falls feature plenty of parking, and safe viewing platforms.
Milford Beach, located at the park’s north end, is a guarded beach on the cool, clear Delaware River. The beach features picnic areas, a pavilion, restrooms, a boat launch, a canoe launch.
