Upcoming Council Event Spotlights – Save the Dates!

The Chamber Councils have quite a few events planned for the remainder of 2022, and just announced some save the dates for their major featured events!

Their Young Professionals Awards will be held on October 6th at PNC Field, and this year’s event will be a regional effort with the Luzerne, Lackawanna, and Wyoming County Chambers. This event recognizes amazing young professionals helping to move our region forward and all are invited to come and see the exciting live announcements of this year’s winners and honor these amazing young leaders in our area. We encourage you to visit the Young Professionals Facebook Group to nominate an exceptional young professional for this year’s awards, which will be opening over the next few weeks!

Also in October will be the Chamber’s Government Affairs Council’s Legislative Education & Advocacy Day (LEAD), taking place on October 14th. This event will give attendees an opportunity to learn about advocacy on the local and state level. LEAD is designed to further attendees’ knowledge of the legislative process, grassroots advocacy, and major current statewide and national policy initiatives. This event provides attendees with tools and resources to build their advocacy toolbelt and meet their legislators/representatives to discuss topics that are important to them and the communities they serve.

Community Opportunities – Small Business Christmas in July

All of the Chamber Councils are joining forces this month to help spread the word about Small Business Christmas in July, happening on Thursday, July 21st across the Wyoming Valley to help drive locals to patronize our area’s small businesses!

On this day, small businesses across the region offer deals and discounts to encourage the community to shop small at their location. Mention “Christmas in July” to enjoy local deals all day throughout the Wyoming Valley at participating locations. All deals will be listed HERE the week of the event.

This is a FREE promotional event for small businesses in our area. If you are a local business interested in participating, visit our website HERE for more information, and click the register button to submit your deal or discount. Participating businesses will be promoted in local print media, on digital media, and included in event pamphlets handed out at participating business locations and the Downtown Wilkes-Barre Farmer’s Market on the day of the event.

Get Involved in Community Initiatives: YP Giving

The YP Giving Program is over halfway to its goal to raise $25,000, to be given back to a local nonprofit organization in our community!

YP Giving is a new philanthropy program run through the Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce, The Luzerne Foundation, Leadership Northeast, and AllOne Charities, in partnership with the Chamber’s Young Professionals Network.

This program introduces young professionals in the Greater Wyoming Valley to the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on their community through a local giving platform, and also helps to cultivate our next generation of philanthropists. AllOne Charities will be matching community donations during this program’s inaugural year, dollar for dollar.

The goal is to raise a total of $25,000, which will be matched by AllOne Charities to become $50,000, which will be given back to a local nonprofit in our community. Each person that donates to the program will have the opportunity to hear how our nonprofit finalists would potentially use the grant funding to better our community and then vote to select the nonprofit that they believe can make the most impact with the award funding.

Donations can be made in a variety of tiers that allow young professionals to contribute at their financial comfort level, to create an inclusive and accessible philanthropic experience. You can make a donation personally or through crowdsourcing, or you can ask your employer to match or sponsor a donation!

Donation tiers:
Be The Change $1,000
Join The Movement $500
Make An Impact $250
Community Partner $50
