Popular Broadway in Scranton series lines up eight incredible shows to run from October 2021 through May 2022.
After an unscheduled pause to the 2019-2020 season due to COVID-19, Broadway in Scranton is making its way back to the Scranton Cultural Center stage. The ever-popular live theatre series returns with modern musicals, enduring classics and rockin’ jukebox tributes.
The 2021-2022 season will bring eight performances in total, spanning 8 months. Four featured shows include: Waitress, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, South Pacific and Cats. Season subscribers also have the opportunity to add a few extras. Special add-ons include Rain, Stomp and Blue Man Group. And they saved one slot for Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story. The show was rescheduled from its 2019-2020 cancellation. Tickets from the originally scheduled performance will be honored.
At the moment, Broadway in Scranton is only offering season ticket subscriptions. Pricing options range from $175 to $315. Subscriptions may only be purchased online, by phone at (570) 342-7784, or at the Broadway Theatre League office at 345 N. Washington Ave., Scranton.
Renewed subscriptions from the previous season will automatically transfer to the new dates. Sales for individual tickets will be announced at a later date.
All Broadway in Scranton shows at the Scranton Cultural Center will adhere to current CDC and PA guidelines regarding social distancing and face coverings. Stay tuned for updates on changes to health and safety protocols as they evolve throughout the year.

Rain -- A Tribute to the Beatles

December 3 – 5, 2021
This critically acclaimed musical offers up a delicious slice of small-town wonder, friendship and a little empowering, “seize the day” attitude. The story follows waitress and pie maker, Jenna as she finds the courage to jump at a fresh start in life.
January 12 – 13, 2022
Experience the rhythm of New York City in this high-energy homage to the sounds of the streets. Performers utilize the stage, brooms, garbage cans and just about anything they can get their hands on to create a dance-filled, musical masterpiece.
Charlie & The Chocolate Factory

Join Charlie Bucket and the rest of the Golden Ticket winners as they embark on a journey into a colorful world of “Pure Imagination” at Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory. The show features original music from the beloved film and more.
Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific

Don’t miss this classic, Tony Award-winning masterpiece that rises above the World War II-ravaged Pacific Islands and tells an unlikely love story through inspiring and iconic songs that have managed to transcend time.

Catch this ground-breaking, Tony Award-winning, Andrew Lloyd Webber musical in all its feline glory. Witness the spectacle of the majestic Jellicle Ball, the enigmatic Mr. Mistoffelees and, of course, the timeless “Memory.”
