Back Mountain Chamber to Host Cornhole Tournament

Registration Is Open for This Fun & Safe Event

Summer’s almost here, and that means it’s time to break out the beanbags once again. Come show off your skills on Sunday, May 23, at the Back Mountain Chamber’s Cornhole Tournament. This outdoor, socially distant event will be held at the Irem Country Club Pavilion in Dallas. Registration starts at noon, and bags fly at 1 p.m.

The tournament will have three different divisions: competitive, intermediate and backyard. And to add a little friendly competition, there will be over $1,000 in cash prizes on the line. Prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in each division.

The tournament is just the beginning of the fun. Participants can enjoy food trucks and a cash bar in between rounds. You can also test your luck with basket raffles and a 50/50 drawing to benefit the Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center.

This will be the second time that the Back Mountain Chamber has hosted a cornhole tournament.

“In September 2020, during the height of the pandemic, the Back Mountain Chamber reached out to the community and offered a chance to get out of their homes and enjoy an open-air event, all while following the state and federal safety guidelines. It proved to be a huge success,” said Sandy Race, co-chair of the event. “Those in attendance asked us to hold it again, and so we are with great excitement. We will once again follow the state and federal safety guidelines on the day of the tournament.”

The cost is $50 per team for pre-registration and $60 per team the day of the event. Each team will consist of two players. You must be 16 or older to compete. Registration is currently open on the Back Mountain Chamber’s website.

“There is a limit of 100 teams, so the sooner you register, the better,” Race recommended.

Come out to play a few rounds and support the Chamber. Check out their website for a full list of rules and details.
