Get the Best of Both Worlds this September with End of Summer Events & Early Fall Fun
During September, we enjoy the last of those sunny summer activities and get ready to welcome cozy fall fun. Because when you’re able to start the month sunbathing on your favorite lake and end it picking apples at a local orchard, you simply have to do it all.

County Fairs
Throughout the Month
Transition from summer to fall with the help of some family-favorite fairs. Hit the rides, watch the live shows and fill up on as much food as possible. This September, you can catch the final days of the Wyoming County and Greene Dreher Sterling fairs, as well as the Luzerne County and Bloomsburg fairs.

La Festa Italiana
September 1 – 4
For nearly 50 years, Scranton has been shining a spotlight on its rich Italian heritage at La Festa Italiana. This Labor Day Weekend celebration brings more than 80 vendors downtown to close out summer. Be sure to show up hungry and ready for a good time.

Apple Harvest Festival
Every Thursday – Sunday
You know autumn is right around the corner when Lakeland Orchard & Cidery’s 25+ apple varieties make a comeback. Celebrate their return all month long at Apple Harvest Festival. Get out to pick your own, ride the Lakeland Express, and hang out on Saturdays and Sundays for live music and fun attractions.

Salt Springs Field, Forest & Falls
September 2
For its 11th year, this Salt Springs trail race is upping the ante. In addition to the classic 5K and 10K options, runners can participate in the inaugural 50K race. All courses wind through the park’s incredible old-growth forest and feature steep climbs, technical descents and runnable straightaways.

StroudFest 2023
September 2
Celebrate Labor Day in Stroudsburg for the 15th year with the help of the Sherman Theater. Local craft, retail and food vendors will line Main Street while bands and artists take to stages spread across downtown.

Night Time Zip & Climb
September 2, 9, 16, 23
Blue Mountain’s Summit Adventure Park is the place to be after dark this month. Climb, zip and swing your way through the High Ropes course with lasers, lights and glow sticks lighting your way.

The Wyoming Valley Run
September 3
It’s time for NEPA’s flattest and fastest road race, presented by Allied Services. The 10-mile course stretches from Pittston to Wilkes-Barre and features some of the best views the Valley has to offer. This race is inclusive of all abilities, with run, walk and hand cycle divisions available. Proceeds go to local charities and organizations.

Jurassic Farm Dino Fest
September 8 – 10, 15 – 17 & 22 – 24
Before pumpkins take over the farm, dinosaurs will roam Roba’s. On weekends in September, dig for bones and sift for fossils while enjoying dino treats. You can even hang out with a baby dinosaur. Just hurry before they go extinct.

Pittston City Second Friday Art Walk
September 8
Between art displays, live music, children’s activities and promotions from local restaurants and businesses, Pittston comes alive for the Second Friday Art Walk. Hit Main Street and support local artists on one summer’s last Fridays.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders
September 12 – 17
Get your fill of peanuts, crackerjacks and 7th inning stretches at the RailRiders’ final home games of the regular season. In a series against the Buffalo Bisons, the boys need all the hometown support they can get at PNC Field.

The NEPA Fair
September 15
Find the best of NEPA in one place at the Circle Drive-In’s NEPA Fair. Rides, late-night movies, performances from local bands and a variety of vendors fill this weekend with a wide array of family fun.

The Hoyt Library's Fall Festival
September 16
Stop by the Hoyt Library for a bit of early fall fun. Pay a visit to local businesses, support handmade craft vendors, try some delicious foods and check out cool community opportunities.

Wilkes-Barre Multicultural Parade & Festival
September 16
Downtown Wilkes-Barre celebrates diversity and community and the annual Multicultural Parade & Festival. Follow the parade route to Public Square where neighbors and local businesses come together for an afternoon of festivities.

Pottsville Oktoberfest
September 16
Oktoberfest returns to downtown Pottsville for an afternoon of family fun. Centre Street will be filled with local food and craft vendors, activities for kids, wineries & distilleries and, of course, a Yuengling Biergarten.

Bloomsburg Fair
September 22 – 30
Close out county fair season with the biggest one around. Every year, favorite food vendors, crazy entertainment lineups and plenty of agricultural attractions draw thousands to this beloved, nine-day NEPA event.

RiverFest 2023
September 23
Celebrate the Lackawanna River at LRCA’s annual RiverFest on Sweeney’s Beach. Enjoy educational exhibits, live entertainment, food & craft vendors and the traditional Duck-A-Thon, all while contributing to the conservation of the Lackawanna River.

Girls in Aviation Day
September 23
The Wilkes-Barre Wyoming Valley Airport invites young girls to embrace their inner pilots at the 9th Annual Girls in Aviation Day. The event features aircraft displays, STEM activities and special seminars, making for the perfect combination of education and fun.

Hawley Harvest Hoedown
September 30
Hawley throws it down at their annual Harvest Hoedown. Throughout Downtown Hawley, you’ll find vendors and food trucks alongside games, costume contests and more fall family fun.

2nd Annual Kisses to Cancer
September 30
Run for a good cause at the 2nd Annual Kisses to Cancer 5K. Sponsored by Wilkes University, the course loops from the campus to the Susquehanna and back. Proceeds benefit The American Cancer Society, The Valor Clinic and the local Air Force ROTC.

The blues return to Blue Ridge at this favorite annual festival. Featuring local food trucks, world class wine and incredible blues artists, this free event makes the perfect end-of-month celebration.
