1. Blue Mountain Resort
Experience the thrill of Pennsylvania’s highest vertical drop at Blue Mountain. At 1,082 feet, this resort belongs on your NEPA bucket list. Blue Mountain boasts 40 trails, 5 terrain parks and the longest snow tubing lanes in the state. After a day on the slopes, enjoy dinner and drinks at Slopeside Pub & Grill.
2. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins
The Penguins are NEPA’s own AHL hockey team and an affiliate of the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins. Their home ice is at the Mohegan Sun Arena. You’re bound to see their mascot, Tux, roaming the stands and rousing some team spirit.
3. Woodloch Resort
Voted the best family resort in America by USA Today, Woodloch Resort is the perfect getaway all year round. Guests can join 30+ scheduled games and activities every day. The winter brings classic snow day fun like ice skating, snow tubing, s’mores and more.
4. Montage Mountain Resorts
Montage Mountain Resorts offers 27 trails and a snow tubing park. The resort has something for all levels, from bunny slopes to double black diamonds. In fact, the White Lightning trail is known as the second steepest slope in the East. They also host fun events like the Cardboard Box Derby and the Presidents Day Torchlight Parade.
5. Revolution Ice Centre
Revolution Ice Centre is a state‑of‑the‑art skating and hockey facility. The rink is home to the Wilkes‑Barre/Scranton Knights hockey teams, the Blue Ridge Figure Skating Club and several local college hockey teams. All ages can hit the ice with in‑house leagues, kids’ programs and public skating sessions.
6. Shawnee Mountain Ski Area
East Stroudsburg, PA
Shawnee Mountain Ski Area combines the thrill of the slopes with a family‑friendly atmosphere. They offer 23 trails, 2 terrain parks and snow tubing in the Pocono Mountains. A favorite for families and beginners, this resort offers lessons and programs for all ages.
7. Pocono Outdoor Adventure Tours
Long Pond, PA
The snow and mud only add to the fun at Pocono Outdoor Adventure Tours. They offer guided UTV trips all year round. Explore the forest trails and tackle the obstacles at the challenge course. Trips also include a stop at the famous Pocono Raceway.
8. Jack Frost Ski Resort
White Haven, PA
Jack Frost Ski Resort offers awesome skiing and riding in the Poconos. This resort features 20 trails and 2 terrain parks. Slopes range from family‑friendly trails to challenging black diamonds.
9. Ski Big Bear
Ski Big Bear is a family‑oriented ski resort in the Poconos. They offer 18 trails of all levels, 3 terrain parks and snow tubing. Their Snowsports School offers excellent learn‑to‑ski programs for children and adults, which makes it a great spot for families and first-timers.
10. Camelback Resort
Camelback Resort spans 166 skiable acres in the Poconos. This popular resort features 39 trails, a massive snow tubing park and plenty of mountain-side dining options.
