1. Trolley Trail
Clarks Summit, PA
The Clarks Summit to Dalton section of the Trolley Trail follows 2.8 miles of the historic Northern Electric Trolley railbed. The flat gravel and earthen path makes for an easy ride. Additional trail segments connect via on-road routes.

2. Greater Hazleton Rails to Trails
Hazle Twp., PA
This rail trail runs 9.1 miles out and back. It’s a popular, easy route for families. Along the way, picnic tables, benches and exercise stations dot the trail.

3. Mauch Chunk Lake Park
Jim Thorpe, PA
Mauch Chunk Lake Park offers four connected, bike-friendly trails that vary in difficulty. Cruise across the 1,710-foot-long Mauch Chunk Lake Dam for views of the water. The 11-mile Switchback Loop runs through downtown Jim Thorpe.

4. Susquehanna Warrior Trail
Berwick, PA
Start your ride at the scenic PPL Susquehanna Riverlands. This trail offers a gentle grade along the old railbed, extending 12.5 miles to West Nanticoke. Riders often spot bald eagles along the river.

5. Luzerne County Levee Trail
Wyoming, PA
This elevated, paved trail parallels the Susquehanna River for 12 miles. Along the way, stop at Kirby Park, Nesbitt Park or Wilkes-Barre’s River Common. Access points are serviced by convenient public parking lots.

6. D&H Rail-Trail
Carbondale, PA
Nature and NEPA’s railroad history are on display on the 38-mile D&H Rail-Trail. This easy, flat trail stretches through three NEPA counties. DCNR named it Pennsylvania’s Trail of the Year for 2021.

7. Bloomsburg Rail Trail
Bloomsburg, PA
This trail transitions from downtown to dense, shady forests. Slow down for wildlife along Fishing Creek. This three-mile out-and-back trail also connects to longer Columbia County trails.

8. Lackawanna River Heritage Trail
Scranton, PA
The Lackawanna River Heritage Trail connects with the D&H Rail-Trail to span over 70 miles. The trail is accessible by 30 trailheads in 13 towns. You’ll enjoy urban, suburban, rural and nature views all in one ride.

9. Back Mountain Trail
Luzerne, PA
The Back Mountain Trail is an easy, suburban trail featuring wildlife, rest areas and a waterfall. Ample parking is available at the Luzerne and Trucksville trailheads.

10. Gardner Spencer Preserve
Dalton, PA
The Gardner Spence Preserve is accessible via Lackawanna State Park or the Ziegler Preserve. It features 2.6 miles of pristine, machine-built mountain biking trails. Look for the preserve’s picturesque “Tunnel Vision” chute.
